Reg Cartwright worked as an art director for an advertising agency until one of his illustrations was spotted at an exhibition. He was asked if he could make it into a picture book and Mr Potter's Pigeon was the result, winning the Mother Goose Award in 1980. Since then, Reg has gone on to illustrate many more acclaimed picture books- some in collaboration with his wife, Ann- which have been translated into several different languages. Much of his inspiration comes from walks in the countryside and the local life of their home county of Leicestershire.
