She has received many awards, including the Fringe First Award at the Edinburgh Festival, the Josef Jefferson Award and the OBIE award in New York for best actress in the production "Born in the RSA." She founded the Literacy Promotion Road Show, which travels to schools all over South Africa to set up libraries. She lives in Dunbar, South Africa. Award-winning South African author Gcina Mhlophe has been writing and performing for over twenty years and conducts storytelling workshops all over the world. Introductions to each tale include fascinating geographical and cultural facts about the story's country of origin. These eight tales give a fascinating view into the many different countries and cultures in Africa.
